I’m helping children avoid asthma attacks. At Thermo Fisher Scientific, we produce a blood test that identifies allergens that can cause breathing problems. We’re giving people around the world vital information to avoid asthma triggers—contributing to reduced symptoms, less medication, fewer days away from school, and many other benefits.
As an avid runner myself, I have a particular interest in helping all of us to breathe well. Here in Washington, DC, I found out that the Children’s Hospital treats a disproportionate number of the asthma cases from the area of the city where I live. So to me, helping reduce asthma is something that literally hits close to home. I’ve made it my mission to encourage pediatricians to order our tests for their young asthma patients. I’m grateful that I can use my position to make a difference for children in my community—and beyond.
